Open Afternoon and Plant Sale

The Open Afternoon and Plant Sale today were very successful, with lots of visitors in both classrooms and at the plant stalls in the hall which were manned by P1-4.

In the P5-7 classroom there were a variety of stalls where children were presenting what they had learned about plant reproduction, genetics and experiments, plus a live TV interview compered by Connor Green  with special guest Gregor Mendel (aka Gabriel Heron)  Pupils also had the chance to show off the computer games they had made in Coding Club with Miss Halkett.

In P1-4 there was also a lot of nice work on show but the main attraction was the Plant Sale in the hall where the children showed off and sold the plants they had planted and looked after helped by Mrs Mathew for their project this term "Growing Things".  Parents really supported this event well and the plants were flying off the shelves, giving the class a total amount made of over £58.  I was told this was partly due to a "hard sell" by some of the pupils so we are obviously doing well at bringing on the spirit of enterprise!
