Writing

 

 

What will we measure?

-Raised levels of attainment in Writing.

-Quality of resources to support the development of Writing skills.

-Teaching and Learning of Writing across the School.

-Raised levels of attainment in a core group of pupils.

-Parental Involvement

How will we measure it?

  • Use of the ‘Write to the Top’ Scottish Criterion Scale to assess completed pieces of Writing in August, October, December, April and June.
  • Extended piece of writing to be completed once per week by each child. Staff to monitor progress and give next steps in their feedback.
  • Appoint Staff Literacy Lead Learner.
  • Review Writing resources available in School
  • HT to observe Writing lessons as per Monitoring and Moderation timetable.
  • Collegiate discussion to ensure continuity of approach to teaching of Writing.
  • HT to model Writing lessons.
  • Review the attainment of a small cohort of pupils and additional support need to close the attainment gap.
  • Information Open Evenings for Parents.
  • Information shared with Parents regarding our whole School approach to Writing.

 

Health & Wellbeing

 

What will we measure?

-The Health and Wellbeing of all pupils.

-Devise a ‘Relationships Policy’ to support a positive ethos with clear boundaries and expectations across our whole school community, centred around restorative approaches.

-The development of our Staff skills set in restorative practise.

 -The readiness of a core group of pupils to access their learning.

How will we measure it?

  • Children to complete the Wellbeing Web on 3 occasions over the course of the academic year. In November, February and May.
  • Nurturing principles should be adopted in class and a nurturing environment should be evident in both classes. Tactile and supportive resources available to support all pupils and nurturing conversation and approaches taking place throughout the School.
  • Devise a ‘Relationships Policy’ with input from all members of our School community.
  • Staff to undergo training in restorative practise .
  • All Staff to use restorative practise in supporting pupil behaviour and choices.
  • Use of the Boxall Tool at the beginning and end of our academic year.

What will we measure?

-Raised levels of attainment in Numeracy.

-Quality of Maths resources.

 -Teaching and Learning of Writing across the School.

-Raised levels of attainment in a core group of pupils.

-Parental Involvement

How will we measure it?

  • Pupil Check ups to be completed at the end of every Maths Topic.
  • Use of new Mental Maths Tracking sheet and explicit teaching and testing of mental Maths skills.
  • Staff to monitor progress and give next steps in their feedback.
  • Appoint Staff Numeracy Lead Learner.
  • Review Maths resources available in School
  • HT to observe Maths lessons as per Monitoring and Moderation timetable.
  • Collegiate discussion to ensure continuity of approach to teaching of Maths.
  • Staff to agree strategies used across the whole school community.
  • Staff to timetable Mental Maths starter at the beginning of each Maths lesson.
  • Review the attainment of a small cohort of pupils and additional support need to close the attainment gap.
  • Information Open Evenings for Parents/ Maths on Show afternoons.
  • Information shared with Parents regarding our whole School approach to Numeracy strategies.
